‘I will never regret
what I have done,’ says Fu Xiancai, who has begun receiving treatment
in Beijing at one of the country’s best rehabilitation centres
Beijing: Chinese farmer and activist Fu Xiancai said Tuesday
that he had no regrets about speaking out for the people displaced,
sometimes forcibly, to make way for the Three Gorges Dam despite
injuries sustained in an attack that left him paralyzed.
‘I will never regret what I have done,’ the emotional 47-year-old said
in Beijing, where he has been receiving treatment at one of the
country’s best rehabilitation centres since the weekend. …
Fu thanked Germans who contributed to a fund for his medical treatment,
which will allow him to spend at least three months at the Beijing
clinic.
He said his condition has not improved much in the past months and
‘that is why I’m here.’
