Thai elec generating to up stake in Lao power plant project

Thailand’s Electricity Generating PCL said it plans to increase its stake in Nam Theun 2 Electricity Consortium, a power plant project located in Laos, from 20% to 25%. TheĀ  additional 5% stake will be acquired from Transfield Pty Ltd., Electricity Generating said in a filing to the Stock Exchange of Thailand. The statement did not provide pricing and other details about the acquisition, and Electricity Generating executives were not immediately available for comment. The company’s increased investment in the project is pending approval from the Lao government, the statement said. Other parties in the consortium include Electricite de France (F.EDF), holding 35%; The government of Laos PDR, holding 25% and Italian-Thai Development PCL (H.ITD), holding 15%, and Transfield, holding 5%, it said.
