Climate change initiatives may represent the greatest financial scam in history, argues high-profile economist Stephen Moore. With governments worldwide spending at least $16 trillion on the climate change industrial complex, Moore contends this colossal expenditure has yielded no measurable benefits, as global temperatures have not changed significantly over the past 30 years.

He highlights the opportunity cost of this spending, suggesting that funds could have been better allocated to pressing global issues—clean water access, disease prevention, education, and energy for the more than one billion people without reliable power.

“Instead,” he writes, “we effectively poured $16 trillion down the drain. For this reason, it is important that we identify the green ‘climate change’ derangement syndrome as perhaps the most inhumane political movement in history.”

Moore criticizes prominent environmental organizations and politicians, including Al Gore and Joe Biden, for perpetuating what he calls the “Green New Deal scam,” which he believes has led to economic harm, particularly in poorer countries reliant on affordable fossil fuels.

Noting a shift in sentiment, Moore claims the fervor for climate change policies is waning in the U.S. and Europe. He praises Donald Trump for dismantling costly regulations, such as the anti-fossil fuels “endangerment rule,” which he argues could save trillions in the long run.

While acknowledging that the $16 trillion spent cannot be recovered, Moore calls for an end to the belief that politicians can effectively manage climate change, urging a focus on practical solutions that genuinely improve lives.
