(January 26, 2000) The Three Gorges Dam will transmit three million kilowatts of power every day to Shanghai next year after the completion of the power grid from Caijiachong to Shanghai, the municipal government announced today. Since Shanghai has no plans to build more power generators in the near future, the power from the dam will be a significant source to meet ShanghaiÍs surging electricity demand during the peak period next year, the government said.
