Fu Xiancai’s condition has suddenly worsened after post-operative complications developed Tuesday. He had to have an incision made into his airways after developing pneumonia, his son told DPA.

Beijing: The condition of the Chinese activist left paralysed following a severe beating has suddenly worsened after post-operative complications developed Tuesday. Fu Xiancai, campaigner for the Three Gorges Dam residents, had to have an incision into his airways (tracheotomy) after developing pneumonia, his son told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa by telephone from Beijing.
