Belize’s Public Utilities
Commission has turned down Belize Electricity Limited’s
(BEL) application to increase electricity rates, reports 7 Newsbelize.
The commission stated that it disapproved of any changes to the
tariffs and that the present rates will remain in effect from July 1st
2008 to June 30, 2009.
BEL has said that it is behind in its payments to Mexico’s Federal Electricity Commission (Comision Federal de Electricidad).
